Marco Albrecht

Marco Albrecht grew up between Sanssouci Palace and the Havel River in Potsdam, completed an apprenticeship as a film print technician at the Babelsberg Film Studios and studied acting at the Hochschule für Schauspielkunt Ernst Busch in Berlin. He was - in each case - a permanent ensemble member at Mecklenburger Staatstheater Schwerin (1990 to 1997), Schauspiel Leipzig (1997 to 2005), Deutsches Schauspielhaus Hamburg (2005 to 2011) and Schauspiel Stuttgart (2011 to 2013). He also made guest appearances at Berliner Ensemble, Bad Hersfeld Festival, Theater Freiburg (2014), Schauspielhaus Graz (2014/15), Mecklenburgisches Staatstheater Schwerin (2015), Burgfestspiele Jagsthausen (2015) and Hamburger Kammerspiele (2016).
Some important roles included Giles Mace in »Ayckbourn's House and Garden« (directed by Wolfgang Engel), Juggler in »Die Macht der Gewohnheit« (directed by Markus Dietz), Admetos in »Alkestis, mon Amour« (directed by Armin Petras), Richard in »Richard III« (directed by Jérôme Savary), Creon in »Medea« (directed by Karin Henkel), Duperret in »Marat, what has become of our revolution?« (directed by Volker Lösch), Marquis von Posa in »Don Karlos« (directed by Hasko Weber), Ivanov in »Ivanov« (directed by Jan Jochymski), Richard in »Die Götter weinen« (directed by Anna Badora), Peter Stockmann in »Ein Volksfeind« (directed by Ralph Reichel), Sheriff of Nottingham in »Robin Hood« (directed by Malcom Ranson) or Mr. Doyle in »Die Netzwelt« (directed by Ralph Bridle).
Since 1999 he has been a regular lecturer at Hochschule für Musik und Theater »Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy« in Leipzig, at Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hamburg, at Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Stuttgart, at Otto-Falckenberg-Schule in Munich and at Theaterakademie Mannheim. At irregular intervals he is a member of the jury (directing or acting) of Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes (2015, 2016 and 2021).

He lives in Berlin and Heidelberg, and with the start of the 2016/17 season Marco Albrecht is a permanent ensemble member at the Theater und Orchester Heidelberg and has played, among others. Sultan Saladin in »Nathan the Wise«, Theseus/Oberon in »A Midsummer Night's Dream«, François in »Subjugation«, Harry Haller in »Der Steppenwolf«, Möbius in »The Physicists«, Peer Gynt/Troll King in »Peer Gynt«, van Helsing in »Dracula«, Michel Houillé in »The God of Carnage« or Creon/Herdsman in »Oedipus«.
