Theresa Leopold was born in Braunschweig and studied art history, theatre studies, English and American studies TU Dresden and FU Berlin. During her time at school and university, she already interned in directing and dramaturgy at Nationaltheater Weimar, Staatstheater Braunschweig and Schaubühne am Lehniner Platz in Berlin, where she worked with directors Tilmann Köhler, Herbert Fritsch, Rainald Grebe and Thomas Ostermeier, among others. She also worked as an assistant director at LOT Theater in Braunschweig and GRIPS Theater in Berlin. In the 2018/19 season, she became assistant dramaturg at Theater Osnabrück. There she was taken over as a theatre dramaturg after two years. Outside of classical theatre insitutions, she also works as a freelance translator and collaborates in the independent scene with performance artist Moritz Sauer and his diverse, queer performance collectives, most recently at Tanzhaus Zürich.
Since the 2021/22 season, she has been the dramaturg for Junges Theater Heidelberg.
