The Animals' Conference
Family play after the novel by Erich Kästner / Version by Ekat Cordes
Alter Saal
After 86 conferences, the humans are entrenched in quarrel, and have still not found a common solution to prevent war and the destruction of the environment. It's enough, think the animals. A successful conference will need to take place, if not for the adults, then for the children. No sooner said than done: four weeks hence in the animal skyscraper! Once the animal delegates arrive, however, it's not all smooth running: how will they find a hotel room large enough for the giraffe? How will they solve the special requests made by the dolphin, who needs airspace for jumps in his water room? But: »We're doing this for the children!«, remember the animals. Will they manage to get the humans to finally solve their problems?
When Erich Kästner published his children's classic »The Animals' Conference« in 1949, it was an urgent call against war, ignorance and environmental destruction – and for children's rights.
This production is accompanied by a programme from the Arts & Education team.
