The war is over. The honour is gone. Resigned Major Tellheim hides from the world at an inn. He pays his room on credit, but has to vacate even that when a young lady arrives. His neighbour soon turns out to be Minna von Barnhelm, his betrothed, looking for Tellheim who has been declared missing after the war ended. Immediate happy ending? Far from it: Tellheim turns away from her, his honour wounded and penniless due to false accusations he finds himself unable to make Minna as happy as she deserves. This leads to an intrigue woven with the help of her servant Franziska, centering around values, love and the question who should be worth how much to whom when.

Ronny Jakubaschk is director at the neues theater halle, regularly works with the Schauspiel Hannover and will now for the first time stage a play at the Heidelberger Schlossfestspiele.
