Dietger Holm is acting General Music Director at the Heidelberg Theatre and Orchestra. This is the second time he has held this position after the 2014/15 season.
Since the 2007/08 season, Dietger Holm has spent formative years at the theatre as Deputy GMD and 1st Kapellmeister alongside Cornelius Meister and Elias Grandy. He was previously engaged as Kapellmeister at the Mecklenburgisches Stattstheater Schwerin. Guest conducting engagements have taken him to the opera houses in Bern, Bielefeld, Flensburg, Halle, Lübeck, Prague and Winterthur, as well as to the ORF Radio-Symphonieorchester Wien, the Mecklenburgische Staatskapelle, the Hamburger Symphoniker and the Musikkollegium Winterthur. He has accepted future guest conducting engagements with the Südwestdeutsche Philharmonie Konstanz and again with the Musikkollegium Winterthur. His wide-ranging music theatre repertoire now includes more than 60 stage works from the early classical period to the immediate present. In addition to the core repertoire - from Mozart to Beethoven, Wagner, Verdi, Puccini and Strauss to central works of the 20th century - contemporary music theatre is a focal point of his work. He has premiered numerous works, most recently three operas last season as part of the European music theatre project »Archive of Voices«. This season, he will premiere Ludger Vollmer's interdisciplinary stage work »Zusammenstoß«. Dietger Holm studied conducting with Klauspeter Seibel at the University of Music and Theatre in Hamburg. He was born in Kiel and grew up on the North Sea island of Sylt.
