Dietger Holm is Deputy General Music Director and Principal Conductor at Heidelberg Theatre and Orchestra.
He was acting General Music Director here during the 2014/15 and 2023/24 seasons. As Deputy General Music Director and Principal Conductor, Dietger Holm has spent formative years in Heidelberg alongside Cornelius Meister and Elias Grandy since the 2007/08 season.
Prior to that, he was engaged as Kapellmeister at the Mecklenburgisches Staatstheater Schwerin.

Guest conducting engagements have taken him to opera houses in Bern, Bielefeld, Flensburg, Halle, Lübeck, Prague and Winterthur, as well as to the ORF Radio-Symphonieorchester Wien, the Mecklenburgische Staatskapelle, Hamburger Symphoniker and the Musikkollegium Winterthur.

His wide-ranging musical theatre repertoire now includes more than 70 stage works from the early classical period to the present day. In addition to the core repertoire – from Mozart, Beethoven, Wagner, Verdi, Puccini and Strauss to key works of the 20th century – contemporary musical theatre is a focal point of his work. He has premiered or given the first performances of numerous works, most recently three operas as part of the European music theatre project »Archive of Voices« and Ludger Vollmer's interdisciplinary stage work »Collision«.

This season, he will conduct »Fidelio«, »Carmen«, »Manon Lescaut« and »Der Rosenkavalier« in Heidelberg, among other works, and will direct a production of Strauss' »Salome« at the Theater Coburg. He will also be a guest conductor with the Südwestdeutsche Philharmonie in Konstanz.

Dietger Holm has worked with numerous renowned directors, including Magdalena Fuchsberger, David Hermann, Peter Konwitschny, Sandra Leupold, Benedikt von Peter, Holger Schultze and Andrea Schwalbach. He has a close artistic collaboration with choreographer Nanine Linning.

Dietger Holm studied conducting with Klauspeter Seibel at the University of Music and Theatre in Hamburg.

He was born in Kiel and grew up on the North Sea island of Sylt.
